Gaétan, shining with pride beyond measure!

We are so proud to highlight the exceptional journey of Gaétan Fleury, a specialized warehouse worker who has been with TAQ for over 40 years! A man recognized for his involvement, dedication to his peers, and strong sense of solidarity.
An Unwavering Determination to Join the Workforce
Originally from Charlesbourg, Gaétan grew up overcoming significant medical challenges related to childhood paralysis. Between the ages of 2 and 21, he underwent six major surgeries, alternated between attending school and receiving instruction at home, and had to relearn how to walk several times. Supported by his family, he developed remarkable inner strength.
After training in appliance repair, Gaétan landed his first job in Abitibi at just 18 years old. He then went through two professional experiences marked by discrimination but refused to give up. In search of an inclusive workplace, he was referred to TAQ and joined the team in 1985 as a delivery driver—a decisive turning point in his career.
A Builder of Connections and a Champion for His Peers
From the moment he arrived, he co-founded TAQ’s social club, which he led for 30 years, helping to create a warm and welcoming work environment. At the same time, his desire to support his colleagues led him to become involved in union activities. Assistant steward as early as 1987, union steward since 2003 (a role he still holds today, 23 years later), he also serves on the provincial Teamsters board of directors, where he holds the position of Vice President. His involvement is truly remarkable—both professionally and personally—and reflects what Gaétan has always embodied: dedication, solidarity, and perseverance.
In 2006, he accepted the role of team leader in material handling. On the industrial assembly contract, he stood out for his organizational skills, thoroughness, and attentive leadership. Always mindful of his team’s needs, Gaétan is a trusted reference for both his colleagues and the client.
40 Years of Service… and Not Done Yet!
Today, Gaétan continues to serve as a specialized warehouse worker, whether in our material handling departments or at Faber, where he proudly manufactures the best snowshoes around! Driven and committed, Gaétan plans to continue working at TAQ for a few more years—at least until the next collective agreement! We are privileged to have had a colleague of his caliber for so many years.
Thank you, Gaétan, for your exceptional contribution!
